Cards
Brex cards: the full category reference
One consistent taxonomy across the whole card space. This hub explains the difference between the card phrases people search for — brex card, brexcard, brex credit card, brex corporate card, brex business credit cards — then links to the reference page that covers each.
Why one card generates six different search phrases
In commercial payments the same physical product is described differently depending on who is talking. A founder calls it a business card. A controller calls it a corporate card. Written down, that becomes “brex card”, “brexcard”, “brex credit card”, “brex corporate card”, “brex business card”, “brex business credit cards” and “brex corporate credit card” — seven phrasings for what is substantially one subject.
Splitting one subject across seven near-identical pages helps nobody, so we do the opposite: three reference pages carry the subject, and every naming variant is answered inside whichever of them genuinely covers it. The table below shows where each phrase is handled.
Search phrase to reference page
Each phrase below is documented on the page named beside it. Where a phrase has its own historical URL, that URL now points at the same reference page.
| Search phrase | Covered on | Why there |
|---|---|---|
| brex card, brexcard | Brex Card | The umbrella name for the card itself |
| brex credit card | Brex Card | Same subject; “credit” describes settlement, not a separate product |
| brex corporate card | Brex Corporate Card | Company liability and central administration |
| brex corporate credit card | Brex Corporate Card | Corporate liability plus credit terminology in one phrase |
| brex corporate card for startups | Startups | A distinct use case with its own eligibility profile |
| brex business card | Brex Business Credit Card | Business-card phrasing almost always means the credit model |
| brex business credit card, brex business credit cards | Brex Business Credit Card | Singular and plural share one comparison intent |
Category comparison at a glance
Generic category behaviour, not a description of any specific programme's current terms. Individual products can and do deviate.
| Category | Typical liability | Typical underwriting input | Repayment pattern | Employee issuance |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Corporate card | Company (corporate liability) | Company financials, cash position, spend volume | Settled in full on a fixed cycle | Central, self-serve, many cards |
| Business credit card | Often personal guarantee from an owner | Personal credit profile plus business data | Revolving balance with interest | Limited additional cardholders |
| Charge card | Company or owner depending on programme | Cash flow and account history | Balance due in full each cycle | Varies by programme |
| Debit / prepaid business card | None — draws on an existing balance | Account balance only | Not applicable | Usually supported |
Terminology varies between issuers and jurisdictions. Confirm liability and repayment terms in the programme agreement before signing anything.

Four questions that separate real differences from marketing
Who is liable?
Corporate liability sits with the entity. A personal guarantee moves risk onto an individual. This single answer changes the product more than any feature list.
What sets the limit?
Cash-balance-linked limits behave differently from credit-scored limits: they can move up or down as the company's position changes, without any decision on your part.
Who can issue cards?
If an admin can issue and freeze cards in seconds, the operating model is genuinely different from one where every card is a support request.
What happens to the receipt?
The record layer decides whether the card saves time. Automatic capture and coding is the difference between a clean close and a spreadsheet.
